Bridgeport ... A Community Living and Growing Together

REGULAR Town Board Meeting: Wednesday, April 2, 2024 | Election Commission Agendas & Minutes | More Information: Agendas  , Minutes  , Schedules

SAGINAW, MI ----- No April Fools – yard waste season is soon to arrive, just in time for warmer weather and the irresistible urge residents get to rake, mulch and spruce up their yards. All that yard waste needs to be managed, and a number of Mid Michigan Waste Authority communities provide curbside collection service for those wastes.

Yard waste services are available in 14 of Mid Michigan Waste Authority’s 35 municipal members. That means residents of those communities can bag unwanted yard waste materials and set them at the curb for collection on their regular trash day from their first service date in April until the end of November. Communities with curbside residential yard waste service are:

  • Birch Run - Village
  • Saginaw - City
  • Bridgeport Twp
  • Saginaw Twp
  • Buena Vista Twp
  • St. Charles - Village
  • Carrollton Twp
  • Spaulding Twp
  • Chesaning - Village
  • Thomas Twp
  • James Twp
  • Tittabawassee Twp
  • Kochville Twp
  • Zilwaukee - City

All materials must be placed in paper yard waste bags, available at most hardware and grocery
stores, or in 33 gallon or smaller garbage containers that have a “Yard Waste Only” sticker attached.
These stickers are available from participating community municipal offices or MMWA. By state law, yard
waste includes grass clippings, yard and garden vegetation, twigs, sod without dirt and leaves. No
container or bag can weigh more than 50 lbs or have materials extending more than 6” past the opening to keep collection workers safe.

Brush, which is made up of branches greater than 2” in diameter but less than 8”, is managed separately from yard waste. One 3’ x 4’ bundle of brush may be set out next to regular trash at anytime of the year. As well, a number of MMWA member communities offer limited-time brush drop-off site(s) or service. Call your community to see if offered.

Mid Michigan Waste Authority is a government entity responsible for developing and administering a comprehensive residential solid waste services system for 35 member communities
across the Saginaw Valley area.
