The Bridgeport Fire Department can provide your business, school or organization with valuable life safety skills. Many of our personnel are certified instructors in various fields. Whether it is leading a scout troop through a station tour, training a church group in CPR, or training employees of a local business in proper fire extinguisher use, our goal is a safer community. Many of our programs can be tailored to your organization’s needs day or evening, weekday or weekend, we can work with your schedule. Contact the Fire Department offices (989) 777-2400 Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and speak to Fire Chief David Smigiel for details.
General Safety Education
Station Tours – Groups of any age are encouraged to visit our station and learn fire safety and learn about the equipment fire fighters use everyday to protect our community.
Safety Trailer – We have one of only a couple mobile education trailers in the region. This valuable tool allows for us to take our message directly to a school, business, event, or neighborhood. The trailer is equipped to handle 20-30 adults/children with audio visual equipment and training props. We are able to teach programs ranging from fire escapes to severe weather training. The trailer training is free of charge to businesses and organizations located within Bridgeport Township. Outside organizations and fire departments are welcome to rent the trailer for an event. Contact us for details on fees and schedules.
Fire Apparatus Visits – We can visit your school or business with fire apparatus and fire fighters to provide general fire safety education. This can include training on smoke detectors, escape plans, carbon monoxide detectors and fire safety. We can even provide a courtesy home safety inspection at your request.
Business Safety Education
Disaster Training – Our knowledgeable staff can assist your business in planning and training for disaster. This can include fires, tornados and bomb threats.
Fire Extinguisher Training- One of the biggest safety issues that we come across is the misconceptions with the proper use of a fire extinguisher. Employees have been injured when attempting to suppress a fire with these tools. We can provide your business or organization with the skill sets to properly choose and deploy a fire extinguisher. More importantly we can help provide them with the knowledge to know when it is better to escape then fight.
